- Tarsar Marsar Trek –
This Tarsar marsar trek is undeniably the most beautiful trek because of the presence of Kashmir Great Lakes. Climbing to a height of 13,103 feet above ground is rated as moderate. This means there’s going to be longer trekking days with not so difficult pathways. The best time to do this is in the month of July – September as any other time of the year , the weather is chilling cold. It also changes color and is really a sight to see. Throughout this trek , you can view the entire boundary of Tarsar Lake. Below 600-700 feet , there is Marsar where you can see the entire view from this point. This depicts the beauty when the sun rises and sets. The plains of Jagmarg , the little village of Aru , mountains of Shakawas are sure to astound you during this trek!
- Srinagar –
The capital of the city is very famous for it’s crystal clear waterfalls of Dal Lake. They offer Shikara rides where you can shop in the floating market , the only such market throughout India. Meet the Mir Baharis who are the people who reside near the lake and explore the culture. Do visit the gardens like Shalimar Garden , Chasm – e Shahi which will engross you with its finesse. - Gulmarg –
This is an excellent spot for people looking for a fantastic honeymoon. The scenery and coziness in this area attracts many tourists year round. It is also famous for it’s skiing. You will love the experience of sliding through the fluffy snow and taking some great snaps especially at Shark Fin. The snowy mountains , lush conifers everywhere and love it offers is what makes this place stand out. Known for its pleasant meadows this has the biggest golf course in the world and highest cable car project. Some major attractions in this place include the famous Shiva temple that all the locals believe in strongly , St Mary’s Church and Baba Reshi Shrine.
- Amarnath –
A paradise for all the spiritual folk out there! This place isn’t just famous around in India but also abroad. It is still a mystery as to how the Shiv linga forms annually in the month of July -August. A truly sanctimonious place that proves that a divine power does exist in this world especially in our India. Many trekkers are also interested in this as it gives them an opportunity to trek to the Amarnath Cave.
- Sonmarg –
Also known as the meadow of gold. This place is so special because you can see 3 lakes , i.e Kishansar , Vishansar and Gadsar from here. It is also the starting point for most of the trekkers who want to commence the Amarnath Cave expedition. Adventure lovers will love this place because you can do some fine trout fishing , trekking to Amarnath and many mountain peaks through exploration and camping during nights. Rafting is also possible here.
- Doda –
Doda is a quaint little district located towards the eastern part of Jammu and can offer the best opportunity for some thrill and sightseeing. It is an excellent opportunity to view a famous intricate mosque and also many other temples.
There are many adventure sports available with full safety and high end equipment for skiing , paragliding and mountain biking.
Some famous temples to see there are Gupt Ganga and Vasuki Naag temple. Jamia Masjid is extremely well known in the area and is worth the visit regardless of religion. Other attractions include Bhog Taraq , Devi Gol and Nagni Mata.
